Diggersby [X / Y] [Tier Undecided]
Diggersby
In-Game Location: Evolve Bunnelby
Stats:
HP: 85
Attack: 56
Defense: 77
Special Attack: 50
Special Defense: 77
Speed: 78
Base Stat Total: 423
Personal Pokemon Description:
The rodent of Gen 6, and to the untrained eye it would seem to be just another rodent with even worse stats than usual. However, Diggersby has the hidden ability Huge Power. This turns Diggersby into an insane powerhouse, and with decent offensive typing and semi-alright defensive stats, it has all the tools it needs to succeed, despite being somewhat slow.
Set #1: Choice Band
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Ability: Huge Power
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - SpAtk )
Item: Choice Band
Moveset:
Earthquake
Stone Edge / Rock Slide
Return / Facade
Wild Charge / Brick Break / Hammer Arm / Bulldoze / Bounce / U-Turn
Set Explanation: This set is rather straight forward. Earthquake and Return are your STAB moves and will majorly dent anything that doesn't resist it. A good alternative to return would be Facade, due to Diggersby's lower than average speed. Stone Edge provides the great Edgequake combo and nails Flying types that would try to get a free ride thanks to Earthquake. Rock Slide is a good alternative in terms of accuracy over power however it most cases Stone Edge will be better due to the extra critical hit chance. The last slot is mostly due to personal preference. Wild Charge allows Diggersby to wreck any slower water types that try to come in and attack Diggersby. Brick Break is good for Dark types and breaks screens. Hammer Arm is good for hit and run, slamming powerful blows. Bulldoze is useful only in niche situations, allowing certain Pokemon to be slowed down enough. Bulldoze also gets STAB so it won't hit quite as weak as people would lead 60 BP to believe it would. Bounce is a two term flying type move that can cause paralysis, and can also be useful in niche situations, allowing a nasty surprise on certain Fighting types and Grass types. U-Turn is useful for scouting and nailing Psychic and Dark types but has not much other use.
Counters: Anything that can tank Diggersby's powerful physical attacks. Avalugg, Forretress, Hippowdon and other physically bulky attackers can swoop in and force him out or take him down with powerful attacks. Quagsire is possibly one of the best switch-ins for Diggersby, being able to set up Curses in his face and Recover away the damage. Ferrothorn is also a good switch-in. Any fast fighting type Pokemon can come in and OHKO Digggersby, notably Keldeo, Terrakion, Infernape, and other fighting types. Bulky Water and Grass types are useful as well, although they must be wary of Wild Charge and Bounce respectively.
